Iyengar Yoga Basics
The perfect introduction to Pathway Yoga! Take four Foundations, Gentle or Level 1 classes for just $50. This package is for new students, and you can start any time. If you decide to continue, we’ll pro-rate your fee for the balance of the session.
Want to give yoga a try but you’re not sure? Don’t let misgivings hold you back! In this class you will learn the fundamental actions to do yoga poses properly and safely, and gain the confidence to continue on this path of self-discovery. Everyone is welcome.
Begin to explore the integrity and vibrancy of Iyengar yoga. Develop mobility, stability and strength through expanding your knowledge of the foundational asanas, or yoga postures, with emphasis on the standing poses.
Learn headstand and basic back bends, and continue to build on the foundation. If poses are not recommended for you for health reasons, you will learn how to adapt them safely. Confidence and concentration expand.
Work toward holding headstand, shoulder stand and basic variations for 5 minutes. Develop a regular home practice, in preparation for classes that touch on all families of asanas: standing poses, forward extensions, back bends, twists, inversions and arm balances.
Seasoned Iyengar yoga students, familiar with the full spectrum of practice, refine your knowledge of Iyengar yoga and advance your sadhana. You are expected to have established a dedicated home practice.

A slower-paced class where the teacher takes extra care in adapting postures to individual needs. This is an excellent choice if you’re cautious about yoga because of health concerns. You are welcome to contact us before registering if you have any questions.
Soothe and settle mind and body through a series of supported postures nourished by the breath. This class is a haven if your energy is low, your stress level is high, or you just want to be quiet and go inward.
Sanskrit is the language in which the original teachings of yoga were written. This is an excellent class for teachers of yoga, as Shreya will teach you to read Sanskrit in English transliteration, and will start you off on learning the Devanāgarī script as well. She'll teach you pronunciation, working with asana names and yoga texts such as the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali. Here is the Course Description.
Barbara meets individually with people who are recovering from injury or who live with chronic health conditions.
Yoga Kurunta – Yoga with Ropes
Yoga ropes are used in regular classes to bring stability and depth to classical yoga asanas. In this class, spend an hour each week exploring the use of ropes in greater depth. Appropriate for experienced students. Not offered this session.
Students will learn how to practice Iyengar yoga safely and effectively for spinal health. Those with acute back problems should register in the Special Care class, with the permission of their doctor. Not offered this session.
This is an intensive, guided 90-minute practice for Intermediate and Advancing students. The asanas are named and timed. No instruction is given, though the instructor makes individual corrections. Offered from time to time - watch for details!
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are the earliest writings on yoga. Enquire into yoga philosophy by studying, chanting and reflecting on these succinct, profound aphorisms. Not offered this session.
Pranayama is the 4th of Patanjali’s 8 limbs of yoga. Study the way of the breath, and its relationship to the vortices of energy in which we live. Pranayama courses are offered occasionally at Pathway Yoga and will be announced. Not offered this session.
